Geroline 3-Layer Antibacterial Mask - Feature Friday

Welcome back to Feature Friday, where we dive into the various products we carry (or those you request to hear about). This week we’re looking at an item that a lot of our staff have been using every day throughout this pandemic: the Geroline 3-Layer Antibacterial Mask.

Form and Figure

Overall, this mask is an excellent choice for around the office, on the job site, or just general usage (excluding where medical ratings are required). With a form-fitting build, one-size fits all adjustable straps, and a soft lined interior, this mask is crafted for both comfort and personal safety.

Many of us use it on a regular basis and can't say enough good things about it. The three protective layers and breathable build allow for effortless breathing while keeping you protected against droplets and bacteria.

Layers

As mentioned, this mask has three active layers that help to protect the wearer from bacteria and liquid droplets:

  1. Inner Layer
  2. The inner layer of this mask is a smooth knitted antibacterial treated cotton fabric that is comfortable and soft to the skin. The antibacterial properties help prevent the spread of harmful bacteria from exiting the mask while also acting as a filter for inbound bacteria.

  3. Middle Layer
  4. The middle layer is a knitted antibacterial treated cotton that prevents the growth of bacteria as well as filtering inbound and outbound bacteria. According to the manufacturer, the antibacterial-treated cotton remains effective for 30 washes. At that rate, with 5 masks per box, you’re looking at about 150 uses when proper care is taken.

  5. Outer Layer
  6. The outer layer is a 100% water repellent polyester treated with silver nanotechnology which acts as a barrier that prevents droplets, small particles and dangerous bacteria from entering the mask.

Proper Fit

One of the best characteristics of the Geroline 3 layer mask is comfort and fit, but what exactly defines a "proper fit"?

  • First and foremost, your mask should cover your mouth and nose completely
  • Your mask should contour to your chin and sit on or under it
  • It should also fit snug against the bridge of your nose. If this is not the case, your mask may not be a good fit.
  • It is also important to check for leakage points to ensure the air you breath is well filtered.

At this point, many of us have experienced issues with glasses fogging up while wearing masks. This happens because masks tend to leave gaps off the sides of the nose causing hot air to rise and clash with the elements on the lenses of your glasses.

This is a pain point for people with prescription glasses, but it also leads to a health and safety hazard for people who wear protective safety glasses on the job. If this is a problem you experience frequently in both cold and humid environments, you'll want to consider eyewear with Anti-Fog properties.

Luckily, we previously evaluated some of the industry's best Anti-Fog technologies for protective eyewear, and tested each one vigorously to see how they fared. Check out this blog post for more details on this process and to help you decide which coating best suits your needs.
